Heat Health and Safety

The Central San Joaquin Valley is known for its very hot summers. Short periods of extreme high heat are not uncommon.

In 2006, California and, in particular the Central San Joaquin Valley, experienced an unprecedented period of extreme heat which caused health problems and resulted in fatalities.

In preparation of the upcoming summer season, the Department of Community Health has made available information on heat health and safety. The links below offer information on how to stay healthy and safe during normal hot summer weather as well as precautions to take during periods of extreme heat.
