The Fresno County Immunization Program provides immunizations for children and adults to protect them against vaccine-preventable diseases at low or no cost. Remember children are not fully protected against vaccine-preventable diseases until they receive all of their immunizations!

Frequently Asked Questions

Infant and Toddler Immunizations - Babies need their shots at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 15 months of age. Immunize your children on time, every time.
Rotavirus vaccine available for children at 2, 4 and 6 months of age.

Preschool and Kindergarten Immunizations
- California State Law requires that children be up to date on their immunizations before they can enter child-care, preschool or kindergarten.

Varicella second dose recommendation. Children are now recommended to get a second dose of varicella vaccine at 4-6 years of age.

Pre-teen vaccinations - A California State law requires that all incoming 7th graders be up to date on their hepatitis B and measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccinations.
Vaccines for this age group include: Tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap), Meningicoccal meningitis (MCV4), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV-women only)

College Immunizations
- It is recommended that college students who are planning to live in the dorms get immunized against meningococcal meningitis. Some colleges require 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine for admission.

Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) second dose recommendation for all students for admission.

Adult Immunizations
- Some people think shots are just for tots. Adults also need an annual Flu shot, Pneumococcal vaccine (at risk individuals and/or those after 65 years of age), Tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap), if you are younger than 65.

Zoster vaccine now available for adults 60 years of age and older to protect against shingles.
