The Fresno County Children's Dental Programs (CDP) provides dental health services for underserved children from low-income families who have limited or no access to dental care.

Why are we here?

  • The Surgeon General reports that "oral diseases are the most common and the most untreated of all childhood diseases."
  • Fresno County ranks 53rd out of 58 counties for Denti-Cal services utilization statewide.
  • 53% of 6-8 year olds have untreated tooth decay.
  • More than 51 million school hours are lost each year to dental related illnesses.

What is the CDP?

  • A community-wide collaborative involving public health agencies, managed care, dental professionals, medical institutions, and community members.
  • Sponsor of the two mobile "Dental Buses" that travel throughout the rural and urban underserved areas of Fresno County.
  • A partner with schools, health clinics, and other community organizations that provide access to children in need of care.

Our Goal:

  • To increase access to appropriate oral health prevention and intervention services for low-income, underserved, and/or uninsured children.
