The Fresno County Children's Dental Programs (CDP) provides dental health services for underserved children from low-income families who have limited or no access to dental care.
Why are we here?
The Surgeon General reports that "oral diseases are the most common and the most untreated of all childhood diseases." Fresno County ranks 53rd out of 58 counties for Denti-Cal services utilization statewide. 53% of 6-8 year olds have untreated tooth decay. More than 51 million school hours are lost each year to dental related illnesses.
What is the CDP?
A community-wide collaborative involving public health agencies, managed care, dental professionals, medical institutions, and community members. Sponsor of the two mobile "Dental Buses" that travel throughout the rural and urban underserved areas of Fresno County. A partner with schools, health clinics, and other community organizations that provide access to children in need of care.
Our Goal:
To increase access to appropriate oral health prevention and intervention services for low-income, underserved, and/or uninsured children.
