FAQ's for patients impacted by Health Screening and Prevention (HSPP) clinic closure |
Health Screening and Prevention Program (HSPP) has provided city and county residents a variety of disease prevention programs through the years, including treatment of Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI). The treatment of LTBI can prevent tuberculosis infection from progressing to tuberculosis disease. However, due to budget shortfalls this year the Department will permanently close HSPP.
As of August 29, 2007, the Department will no longer provide tuberculosis skin testing or initiate treatment of LTBI. Clients diagnosed with LTBI will be referred to their primary provider or community clinic for recommended LTBI treatment. The Department will continue to investigate cases of active tuberculosis disease and will initiate treatment for active cases and their contacts.
