The STAR Program provides specialized treatment to consumers who have a dual diagnosis of mental illness and substance abuse. Services in the program focus on these two co-existing disorders and the need for simultaneous treatment of both. While the STAR Program help consumers maintain abstinence from drugs and alcohol and reduce psychiatric symptoms that may accelerate substance abuse, it also prevents crisis events like hospitalization.
