The Senior Peer Counseling Program promotes wellness, reduces social isolation and enhances the lives of senior individuals as they encounter the social and developmental issues associated with aging. The program links older citizens who are experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties with trained senior peer counselors. The program recruits seniors, 55 years and older to work as peer counselors. The counselors are trained and supervised by a licensed clinician to provide supportive counseling to other seniors. Counselors receive 36 hours of training in twelve weeks then continue to attend seminars for further training. Contact the Senior Peer Counseling Services Coordinator for more information.
