Services which include prescribing, administering, dispensing and monitoring of psychiatric medications, or biological, which are necessary to alleviate the symptoms of mental illness. The services may include evaluation of the need for medication education and plan development related to the delivery of the service and/or assessment of the beneficiary. Staff psychiatrists prescribe and monitor medications, which may provide relief from symptoms of major mental illness. The Medi-Cal Program, utilizing neighborhood pharmacies, may pay for medications. Consumers not covered by Medi-Cal may qualify for UMDAP (State of California legislated formula) payment for medications and all mental health services. |
